create virtual reality and augmented reality effects with meta
We are closer than ever before to the new technology age. We are seeing the endless and exciting possibilities for Web 3.0 and the metaverse - but we want to ensure that women are part of this conversation. Having diverse creators in the metaverse allows for more experiences to be shared and more stories to be told.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Meta and T&DA to launch the Meta Immersive Learning Academy in Australia - a global initiative to support the next generation of creators for the metaverse. Meta wants to ensure that as Australia’s creator ecosystem grows, it continues to be inclusive and represents the rich intersectionality within society.
The Academy will provide free, guided training in immersive technologies such as augmented and virtual reality, as well as a place for community building, mentoring and even monetisation opportunities.
What is Meta Spark?
This bespoke Meta Spark AR curriculum equips fresh tech talent with the skills to create and publish AR filters and experiences. Through this partnership, Meta will be training a cohort of over 200 women and Code Like a Girl community members in 2023 ensuring they have the confidence, tools, knowledge and support they need to enter the world of immersive technologies.
The Meta Spark course will launch in May and provide learners with:
Training and coaching over an eight-week period. Participants who complete the course will be able to develop face filters, target tracker and world effects;
Information sessions and community-building events for women to connect and build networks; and
The opportunity to apply for formal Meta Spark certification upon completion of the course.
Meta is also launching free, self-guided Meta Spark training modules, available on the MILA Australia website, for people with busy schedules or who prefer a learn-at-your-own-pace approach.
AR Creators are growing
The AR effects that creators will build should be familiar to most Instagram users who love to play and use “facial filters”. Meta Spark Studio is the software platform where creators can build these filters and more intricate AR experiences, such as games and ads. Who knows soon you might be seeing your AR effect shared on Instagram or Facebook!
The APAC region already has the largest and fastest-growing ecosystem of Meta Spark AR creators and publishers in the world, and 49 per cent of those creators identify as women. We can’t wait to see that number rise thanks to this learning opportunity.
